Yemen, a country which has suffered from war for nearly a decade, is under attack once again. The people are undergoing one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history, and this pain will be exasperated as men, women and children face imminent danger, immediate displacement, further hunger and extreme agony once again. 

The recent conflict had already crippled a struggling economy. As a result, 17 million people in Yemen cannot put food on their tables. Some families go for days without eating. Some Yemenis are left scavenging wild or harmful foods. The rate of child malnutrition is one of the highest in the world and the nutrition situation continues to deteriorate.

Yemen remains one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises.

Right now, a staggering 21.6 million people require some form of humanitarian aid as 80 percent of the country struggles to put food on the table and access basic services. 

Sadly, 14 percent of the entire population are displaced, making up more than 4.5 million people. 

There has been risk of a large-scale famine for many years; the latest events will increase the likelihood of this happening, which will cause further pain and suffering to the millions who are battling for survival daily. 

Malnutrition rates amongst the vulnerable women and children in Yemen remain the highest the entire world. 

2.2 million children under 5 require treatment for acute malnutrition. 
1.5 million pregnant women require treatment for acute malnutrition.
